| CHARACTER NAME: Marley Jacobs FANDOM A Key, An Egg, & An Unfortunate Remark AGE 65ish SEX Female SEXUALITY SPECIES Human CANON POINT End of the book PB Judi Dench | http://www.harryjconnolly.com/index.php/a-key-an-egg-an-unfortunate-remark Snarky, vivacious, and caring; Marley Jacobs is a wealthy philanthropist who has devoted her time, money, and powers to improving the quality of life for the people of Seattle. It doesn't matter to her if they are living, dead, undead, cursed, or what have you. People are people, and so long as they abide by her rules and comport themselves like civilized human beings, they remain under her protection. Family--even family she doesn't particularly like--is important to her, and in some ways, she considers the entire city her family. She wasn't always such a humanitarian, but she has worked hard to atone for her darker, and more reckless past. To the casual observer, she appears to be little more than an eccentric, old, rich woman, whose looks may be slightly better preserved than her mind. However, she is actually a keen observer, highly intuitive, and extremely active in her community. A huge patron of the arts, she is known for throwing extravagant parties, which are often the subject of much gossip (despite being perfectly innocent and above-board); however, these social engagements also serve as a distraction: not only to keep her from dwelling in the past, but also to keep anyone from realizing just how truly powerful she is. As wizards go, Marley Jacobs is extremely subtle, but not so quick to anger. She excels in illusion, charisma, and strategy; and her intuition often borders on clairvoyance/precognition. She is also skilled at making potions and other enchanted artifacts, though she has remarked that the cost of such items can be prohibitive, even for someone as wealthy as her. Much of her power and influence stems from the fact that she has been around long enough to be extremely well-connected, and to know how to use those connections to advantage. She's also made her fair share of enemies, and at some point, she was cursed so that any door she opens literally takes her through an actual door that she has opened in her past. She never knows which door it might be, or where she will end up. Yes. Her butler is a demon from another dimension, and she has a spirit of knowledge/intellect named Scribe that inhabits her laptop, who writes her memoirs, so it's entirely feasible that they may have published as fiction in alternate universes. |
